Kitch’s Plan for Developing Muskegon Heights

Community Development

Kitch believes it is important for Muskegon Heights to have safe neighborhoods and stronger communities, that is why he has every intention to increase collaboration between residents, law enforcement, and community organizations to ensure public safety that is fair, just, and rooted in trust. As part of the initiative to invest into the safety of the community, Kitch plans to prioritize the condition of our roads by seeking local, state, and federal funds to restore, repair, and maintain safe, drivable streets. Additionally, Will supports violence interruption programs that provide mentorship, counseling, and alternatives to incarceration.

I will champion workforce development programs that prepare youth and adults for high-demand careers through apprenticeships, training, and certification. By working closely with local schools, trade unions, and businesses, we will create clear pathways to success and expand youth employment initiatives that keep young people engaged, skilled, and hopeful about their future. To further support economic growth and opportunity, we will offer grants, mentorship, and workshops for young entrepreneurs and local business owners.

Neighborhood Revitalization

I will address abandoned homes and vacant lots through aggressive code enforcement and city-supported rehabilitation, while supporting the development of affordable housing and expanding access to first-time homebuyer assistance and housing counseling. We will prioritize neighborhood cleanups, the expansion of green spaces, and increased investment in parks and recreation to improve quality of life. Most importantly, residents—not outside developers—will lead and shape all redevelopment efforts to ensure growth reflects the needs and values of Muskegon Heights.

Transparent and Accountable Leadership

I will champion transparency —where information is accessible, decisions are made with public input, and transparency is the standard. To keep Muskegon Heights residents informed and involved, I will establish quarterly town hall meetings and issue regular public reports. I will push for stronger ethics policies, financial transparency, and independent oversight to ensure accountability at every level. As city council, I will always put the needs of residents before politics or personal gain.
